Fourteen years ago my husband was stationed in Korea while I was stateside. We decided to build our dream home in Tennessee. My husband helped make decisions through Skype, several thousands of miles away and surprisingly, the building of our home went smoothly.
Our children and grandchildren live close by and we love every minute of it. We are a retired family after 32 years of military service.
After living in our home for several years, I made a decision to convert it to Farmhouse style and taking on this journey as much as possible as a DIY. Literally, every room in the house needed an update or renovation. It has been a huge undertaking, but so much fun.
Our first renovation was building a back porch to our home. The house had a concrete patio that had 5 steps to go outside. My husband built the porch level to the home and now it feels as if we have added another room to our home.
We replaced all the floors throughout the house with sand and finish hardwood flooring and that has made a huge difference in the beauty and comfort of our home.
Our belief in a natural lifestyle prompted us to grow our own food and live a chemical-free life by incorporating essential oils into our lives.
Some of the things I love to do is sewing. I spend a great amount of time in my sewing studio. My other loves are photography, painting, DIY and making things. I also love my pups and every now and then I will be bursting as I will just have to share our accomplishments. My dogs and I compete locally and nationally in multiple venues. I must confess that the training takes a lot of time and sometimes all-consuming.
Another favorite room is my kitchen. This is where I love to cook, bake and decorate cakes. You will find me making my essential oil recipes for natural and chemical-free life.
The reason for beginning this blog is to make a small difference in someone else’s life. If I can do that, I feel accomplished in what I’ve set out to do. Please join me on this journey I call my “Life on Mercedes Drive”.
XOXO
